「 A quote from this series 」
"The motto of our club: We eat what we catch."
「 The Review 」
SynopsisHina Tsurugi has recently moved to Ashikita with her family. While looking forward to joining the Handicrafts Club in her new school, things got a bit complicated when she crossed paths with the president of the Breakwater Club.
Story
This was the only second anime related to fishing that I've watched. The first was
Grander Musashi which was focused on fishing contests. While both shows taught their audience how to catch a fish, this light-hearted anime also shared knowledge on how to prepare and cook seafood.
In fact, I made some fish fillet for the first time after watching the finale (lol).
Characters
This was one of those shows where you can easily get familiarized with every important character because they're so few... Like seriously, there's only five of them, and they were:
Hina Tsurugi - As the lead character I thought she has a bland design, but after thinking thoroughly, I came to accept that her look fits well for a country girl.
Yuuki Kuroiwa - She instantly reminded of Sayaka Kanamori from Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na. Both ladies emit an aura that you can tell they're up to something that will be beneficial for them.
Makoto Oono - She's the type of a senpai who might seem shy at first, but when it comes to topics which she likes, she can really be vocal and supportive.
Natsumi Hodaka - The Ahoge character. (Yea, that's it.)
Sayaka Kotani - A nurse/club adviser version of a drunk Misato Katsuragi from Evangelion.
Writing / Storyboarding
None of the scenes here will make your head explode. Everything was simple, yet knowledgeable and entertaining enough.
Some may say it's a snooze fest, but I think the creators purposely did it that way. I mean, you do need to be silent when you catch a fish, right?
The bird that Hina and her friends saved by removing the tangled strings.
And among the 12 episodes, I consider episode nine where they advocate on maintaining the cleanliness of the sea surroundings, their best.
Artwork / Animation
The details for the setting were really awesome. The art director got everything right on how a town near a sea should look and feel.
Music / SoundThe opening and ending songs were an easy skip for me. But the BGM here was something you can really listen to on a calm, partially sunny afternoon.
