What kind of blog is Anime Primo?
Answer: This is an anime review blog divided into two parts: episode and series review. Its focus is mainly on new anime TV series, and only the first season will be reviewed (
See the answer in question #1.2 for specifications.). I will also be picking only a handful of titles for episode reviews, probably three or even less (depends on how busy I am). After a year has passed, an annual anime awards will occur and give recognition to the deserving titles.

Why review only the first season?
Answer: Simply put, I don't have enough time and I don't want to push myself to the limit.
If I review the succeeding seasons of a previous anime I have evaluated, it will certainly add pressure on my part. I have work that requires me to be in front of a PC for hours, I also watch other shows besides anime, and I also play a couple of games. In short, I have other stuff to deal with, and most importantly I don't want to strain my eyes.

What are your criteria for the anime to be considered new?
Answer: It should be the first season, meaning sequels and prequels are not allowed. Spinoffs are fine as it delivers a new perspective. Meanwhile, remakes and alternate retelling are prohibited, because even though the art might be different, new characters have been added, or there are new twists, at its core, its plot is similar to the original.

What is this annual anime awards?
Answer: To acknowledge outstanding new shows, and to make them more appealing to the anime audience, I'll be creating an independent anime award event every year. And it will happen after the winter season of the following year. Why not after the end of the year, you might ask? In the case of shows which premiered in Fall, some anime are in a double cour format, meaning the rest of its episodes will be shown in Winter the following year. So for me to judge it fairly, I need to finish watching them first.

How do you pick the anime that you're going to review?
Answer: First, I list down the new anime series. There will then be an elimination round. After watching a couple of episodes from more or less 30 titles, I will make a record of those that I will keep track of. Finally, I will decide which anime I will make a review per episode, and those that I will only make an article about after it has been completed. (
Click Anime Status on the menu bar.)

How do you judge an episode?
Answer: I base it on the excellence of the screenplay, direction, and music. Other aspects like art and visual effects come in second place. As you can see, for me, it's not all about high-budget production. An anime can still deliver a powerful episode, even if the art is just average, or the animation is not smooth. Sure, jaw-dropping art and animation are a feast to the eyes, but sadly, having those is not enough. It all boils down to the impact you will feel after watching an episode.

What are the ratings you give?
Answer: There are seven ratings: The lowest is 1, followed by 2, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, and the highest is 5.
