"I'll show you... what it really means to live!"
「 The Review 」Synopsis
In the 2400s, Earth's pollution has become unmanageable that living on it seems almost impossible. Those in power created cyborgs to deal with the tragedy. However, as time passes by, the robots have grown in high numbers.
A corporation called Solid Quake, then acquired the rights to all humanity, giving them permission in handling the future of mankind.
StoryThis anime definitely delivered an original concept. There's no isekai, harem, an OP main character, or anything that's pretty common nowadays. So if you're into something really unique like manufactured aliens, cute cyborgs, a female character with a better hand than Captain Hook, then don't miss this out.
One thing I noticed from the pilot episode was the transformation concept of Deca-dence, it reminded me of how the ship/city in Super Dimension Fortress Macross converts into a gigantic robot, that's used for offense as well:
Which for you was cooler? :)
Characters
So we have Natsume, who gave the rest of the cast (well mostly, Kaburagi), the will to do more in life. Something quite common for a protagonist.
Here's an honest opinion: For an MC, she's not that memorable. But that's not an issue because what this anime wanted wasn't for the audience to remember her (like she's the most important subject) but the show's story and life lessons.
Although, if you asked me whose character was fascinating, it will be Jill. She's the one who made things possible for their plans to work. And for me, she's like Nanachi from Made in Abyss, also a pivotal supporting character.
Writing / Storyboarding
Here's a shortcut about the writing on this anime...
Q: How many twists will there be?
Deca-dence Team: Yes.
Seriously though, I was so astonished after seeing the intro of episode two. I instantly messaged a friend who has seen this, and told him: "This anime fooled me! (insert laughing emojis)" What's amazing was, the twists didn't stop there. This 12-episode anime has managed to add multiple shock factor throughout the series. And I think that's enough reason for you to binge-watch this.
Artwork / AnimationThe mechanical design for the fortress was really bizarre, I mean just take a look at it:
Although the interior was really something, well, only for those who were in The Power:
And for the fortress's weapon, I think it was kinda lame. I thought it will fire a beam, but nope, it's just like a punching arm toy, but real and humongous:
For the animation, it was definitely superb. The battle with Gadolls will really make you feel the intensity of it.
Music / SoundBoth opening and ending songs were great, but, what struck me most was the BGM.
If you're into battle themes like me, then make sure to have a listen to these tracks: DECA-DENCE's Spear, Tankers' dwelling, and Warrior's battlecry.

PS: I feel sad for the bugged gadoll, not only it was treated cruelly, but in the end, it had to be killed.
Speaking of a gadoll, the first time I saw Pipe, it instantly reminded me of Mitty from Made in Abyss as well.
