Synopsis
A unique set of humans who can alter somebody else's memories are under the control of a powerful company. They, however, seek to get away from it and live more freely.
Story
This was one mind-boggling anime. To put simply, this anime features a mafia that will do everything on its power to control humans whose hypnosis skills go way beyond the normal level. And of course, nobody wants to be controlled and observed, thus these skillful fellas will do everything to flip the tables.
As the series progresses, your brain might not be able to handle everything, as they like to add more layers that will confuse you more. I mean, it's still understandable, but in my case, I felt like I needed to take a breather, and give my mind some time to revert to its peaceful state. (This anime really took a toll in my head after binge-watching this.)
If you've seen
ID: Invaded, then you will already have a grasp of what's about to come, but let me tell you, this was way more mindfuck.
Characters
One unique thing I've seen on this show was the way they introduced the characters. In most cases, the protagonist/s will be shown first, and they will have that role model persona until the end.
On this anime, one of the supposedly good guys will have an antagonist-like personality, which will make you wonder what's with the sudden flip of roles. (I won't spoil this one 'cause this was really something you should see yourself, especially 'cause there's also a character who you might think was an antagonist but was indeed not bad at all.)
Writing / Storyboarding
Aside from Nihongo, the dialogues also include Mandarin. So A+ for the effort of mixing two languages. And almost every episode here had great writing, so you won't be disappointed, but if I get to pick which ones were the best, I chose episodes 2, 5, 6, 9, and 13.
Another quote I also liked, besides the one I wrote above, was:
"
Trust only lasts until someone involved changes their mind."
And lastly, the scene where Hiroki was running away from Tsukasa and Satoru, reminded me of Trinity when she was trying to escape from the Gatekeepers in
The Matrix. Yes, production-wise, it's not the same, but the vibe's quite similar.
Artwork / Animation
When it comes to the scenes of valleys and peaks, the animation there was topnotch, but in everything else, was just average. I mean you will really see the downgrade. But, you know what? I don't care. This anime has much more to offer.
Also, check out the arts after the ending credits, they're really cool. This, I liked the most:
Music / Sound
Both the opening ("Chou no Tobu Suisou" by
TK) and ending song ("image _____" by
Memai Siren) were written and composed well. Vocally, the intro was better (and will make you bop your head), but I fell in love with the ending more.
