Synopsis
The drakers stumbled upon a vessel which they thought needed rescuing. As they were about to leave, Vanabelle spotted a ship that seemed to have no good intentions with them.
Story
The episode started with some humor when the men teased Jiro about finally losing "it." Followed by some mystery when they examined an abandoned ship. Then it became more interesting when it turned out, the ship was a bait laid by pirates.
All the intensity and emotions were properly built, then came the succeeding scenes with poor storyboard and writing. You'd somehow expect a quality action sequence, but what they delivered was some senseless comedy act.
In the end, they found a dragon who was peacefully flying for them to kill. What a gloomy ending.
Characters
I enjoyed the fact that in this episode, a lot of the sub-characters' names (Capella, Vadakin, Faye, Soraya, and Niko) were mentioned. It's like they were finally trying to make them more familiar with the viewers.
And Mika... I was cheering for him before he invaded the enemy's ship. Then it happened..., And... it was lackluster.
Somehow I wished it was Vannie who did it. It will probably look more badass.
Writing / Storyboarding
This was such a disappointment. They could have shown us more thrilling scenes, but it was all trimmed down because of clumsy air pirates, and Mika's love for meat. Like seriously, how many times does his desire for dragon meat have to be screened?
Here's the problem with how the final scene was written: What if the gun didn't get jammed? Mika would have been gone in a snap. In my opinion, a member of Quin Zaza should have shot the enemy, whether it's a good aim or not. At least the pirate will get distracted. It would have been a much better reason why Mika wasn't hit.
Artwork / Animation
I only liked the dragon shown in the ending. Even if there was no close-up shot of it, I can tell by its silhouette that it has good design.
Music / Sound
This anime really had great music collection. I particularly love the one that was used when they were searching in the abandoned ship.
PS: After two low-scoring episodes, I've decided to drop this series from being reviewed.
