Synopsis
Jiro recalls and shares Takita the story of the Glittering Dragon that saved a ship, lost inside a storm.
Story: This episode was centered on Jiro. Last time, Takita asked him why he joined Quin Zaza, and now we know it's because of his father.
It's an overused concept, where a parent doesn't have enough time for his/her child because of work, and so the kid will develop some form of emotional problem or a certain amount of hate. But well, in the case of Jiro, there seemed to be no detestation involved, just a bit of disappointment.
Characters
How I wish Jiro was the main supporting character... but no, the creator obviously gave Mika that role.
All Mika thinks was how he would kill and eat a dragon, while Jiro has a compassionate side, just like Takita.
And here's some minor revelation... the name of the female crew handling the steering wheel was Capella, and Crocco was the Deputy Captain.
Writing / Storyboarding
More than halfway through the episode, I was all smile because the writing's above-average again ...or so I thought.
When the Glittering Dragon showed, Jiro became so emotional, and the others were at awe. But Mika, on the other hand, was so pumped to kill it, and their accountant wanted the same thing because it will make them so rich. Like seriously, were they insane? And I'm not referring to their situation because they're in the middle of a storm, but the fact that the dragon was there to be their guide.
Didn't they think of the other drakers that the dragon has helped or will help in the future? How can they be so selfish? It's like this show was advocating gluttony and greed.
When Jiro asked Mika if he was really serious about killing the dragon, in my mind, I was like "Okay, this is your time to redeem yourself." Unfortunately, he was dead serious. And his expression was similar to a child who wasn't able to acquire his favorite toy.
Artwork / Animation
Another amazing art of a dragon was showcased in this episode. And the visuals for the storm were jaw-dropping.
Music / Sound
After three episodes, the music was the only thing that didn't go downhill.
