Synopsis
The power of Ebisu's powder has finally been discovered, and it's what they have been looking for this entire time.
Story
I'm glad that they served us a random amusement in this mid-season. It made the dark atmosphere slightly fun for a moment. Remember when the season was just starting, they showed us a zombie-hunt, and now they delivered a sports event. In short, this anime wasn't monotone when it comes to storytelling.
Characters
I wasn't that shocked about how powerful Ebisu was, I mean you can sense that even though they built her character to be a nut head, there was just really something eerie surrounding her. So now I guess, the only remaining unknown power was Nikaido's...
And finally, we got to meet En's partner (though he denied it, so I don't know the real deal) Chota. He has a vivacious character, and maybe that's why En chose to not be with him most of the time.
Writing / Storyboarding
This anime was a true master of dark comedy, and this episode proved that. There were a lot of brutalities here, but some will just really make you laugh. And seriously, it's not easy to think of a storyboard for that.
Artwork / Animation
The production design team really poured a lot of ingenious ideas in this episode and I applaud them for that. From mechanical and monster designs, hairstyles, and background arts, everything looked amazing.
Man, that painting is no joke.
And for the animation, the scene where Shin recalled the time he and Noi fell off a cliff looked really cinematic.
Oh, and the scene where Nikaido hit the ball so strong. From a very fast scene to a slowmo when it hit the coach of their opponent, was, to be honest, really funny and sad, I mean the old man could have died (but those flying dentures... LOL!)
Music / Sound
I really enjoyed the joyous music in the room of En's partner. But what really stood out was the sound effects, especially in the baseball game, plus the battle scene between Noi and Shin, and when Ebisu transformed into a monstrous lizard.
And to add icing on the cake, I love the fact that they used the first ending song for this episode.
