Synopsis
Somali and Golem have finally crossed the desert, and have now reached the town of Witches to search for information regarding humans.
Story
At first, I was a bit shocked when Somali asked Uzoi about the status of her race. I remembered in episode one, the waiter had already explained about the war between humans and other clans. It turned out, Somali's attention was only focused on food while she eats. That's probably why she didn't hear anything the waiter has said. So, now here's a question: How would she react if she finally learned about it?
And lastly, I was wondering why there was only one book (The Chronicle of Haraiso) about humans, wasn't their history worth recording? Especially since war broke out between them and the other races?
Characters
The Witches clan was something I didn't expect at all. I thought all the other clans were related to different kinds of creatures. An elf would have been understandable, but a witch... wasn't it more aligned to a human?
And for another thing I didn't expect... the wings of Golem. In this episode, he used it for offense, but in episode one, I wonder if that's what he used to be on top of a building to search for Somali...
Writing / Storyboarding
The surprise attack in the library was a great addition. I thought it would be quite an uninteresting episode, but the battle scene really switched things up.
Artwork / Animation
I'm really fascinated by the animation of rivers or any flowing water in this anime. And also the magic skills by the witches were quite good to look at.
Costume designs for the witches were amazing, and the background art for the library was top-notch.
Nothing dramatic in the monster design for the Pescafish, but amongst the giant creatures they have encountered, this was the best so far.
Music / Sound
A more upbeat battle theme would have been better, but the music they used wasn't bad either.
