Synopsis
Seton Academy is a school for all living creatures, and Jin Mazama who hates animals feels unlucky to be a student of it. Fortunately for him, a female human is also on the campus. He now sets a goal to be romantically linked to her. But achieving it won't be easy as their friends always get them into issues he doesn't want to be involved in.
Story
This was the type of anime that you don't have to entirely take seriously, or else you would've skipped this, and missed the fun this anime offers. I said that 'cause this show's concepts may be something you will consider bizarre.
An example was the interspecies romantic relationship in episode three. Let me just say it has been done before, remember Donkey and Dragon in the movie
Shrek? So for you to fully enjoy this comedy, lighten up and don't think too much.
Aside from offering unusual stuff and hilarious scenes, this anime also presented trivia regarding various animals that a lot of people might not know. Take the photo below for example:
And... another one:
Amusing right?
One of this anime's theme was Harem, and if you're a huge fan of that, then sorry but it wasn't really given that much attention -- which for me was the right decision. I liked that they focused more on animal content mixed with comedy. In fact, if I remember correctly, there's no scene where Jin was being seized by two women. So yeah, if you expected the main character will have a love interest with every demi-human he's connected with, then you're in for a disappointment.
Characters
Ranka was the main female character, her voice might be annoying at first, but you'll get used to it. As a wolf, her goal was to have her own pack that contains different animals to prove that all species can co-exist. If we're going to apply that in real life, it's like this show was telling us that any human can work together, regarding the race, nationality, color, sexual orientation, etc.
Choosing from all the demi-human cast, the one who cracks me up the most was Miyubi. She's a sloth, and basically, that's all you need to know (lol). For reference, watch
Zootopia.
And for Jin, all I can say was he's pretty knowledgeable for something he dislikes.
Writing / Storyboarding
Episode 5 had the best writing, all of the cast members were present, and it was interesting how each animal stayed true to their character (in their anime version at least).
Another one was episode two. I was amazed at how most of the supporting cast was introduced in a single episode, without making neither one of them less interesting over the other.
Artwork / Animation
Nothing spectacular in the animation department. However, the character designs were funny (in a good way) and interesting at the same time.
Music / Sound
Both the opening and ending songs were sung by the Japanese VAs. I don't consider them great, but the opening sounds so fun and the ending was quite cute, so I didn't mind listening to them when I binge-watched the show.
