Synopsis
Two otakus with a different forte in animation, and one money-oriented individual, joined forces to try and achieve their goals.
Story: Let me just say the first scene reminded me of the intro in
Spirited Away. Moving along, any aspiring animator, character or concept art designer, will totally dig this anime. And if you can see yourself running a business in the future, maybe you'll get inspired when you watch how Kanamori adjusts herself and motivates other people to try to earn money (
hope that makes sense, lol).
Characters
These are probably the most diverse trio of high school girls in the history of anime television.
Midori Asakusa - A classic type of an introvert otaku. Any anime critic will absolutely relate to her every time she analyzes a show.
Sayaka Kanamori - The 'Mr. Krabs' (
SpongeBob SquarePants) among the three. Nuff said.
Tsubame Mizusaki - The rebellious fashion model. Probably will be Kanamori's source of income (j/k).
Anime:
Future Boy Conan by
Hayao Miyazaki. (
Here, you can see the anime stuck to the original frame size ratio.)
Writing / Storyboarding
The part where Midori was explaining every detail of the anime being screened and the chase scene on the backstage were brilliantly written. I can just imagine the storyboards for those.
And lastly, Tsubame's dialogue: "
The new anime by the animation dream team of Inoue-san, Ohira-san, and Iso-san is gonna air!," really struck me. It made me search what she was referring to, but unfortunately, I didn't find it. The bottom line, it just shows that the creators know their stuff too well.
If you're wondering who those were, search for these names:
Mitsuo Iso,
Toshiyuki Inoue, and
Shinya Ohira (Yes, you're welcome.)
Artwork / Animation
If you've read the FAQ section of this site, I've mentioned there that some show doesn't have high-budget production but can still deliver a powerful episode. This anime was an example of that.
And talk about some unique design... check out Kanamori's backpack:
If I were still studying, I'd totally get one.
Music / Sound
The song "Easy Breezy" by
chelmico and the opening credits animation accompanied to it, was a perfect combo to set up the vibe. The same goes to the ending credits, there was wicked artwork, and "Namae no Nai Ao" by
Kami-sama, Boku wa Kizuite Shimatta was a song you can rock on with.
In the last scene where they were combining ideas, the sound effects where they used their own voices really lures you into their imagination.
